An Ode To Apples
February 11th, 2024

A short video poem written about apples and the obsession our culture has with them. I made this video focusing on short cinematography. This was also my first time utilizing caption graphics in video editing.

Ode to Apples

“Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about apples. I’m not exactly sure what about them captivates me, but I haven’t been able to shake the obsession with apples our culture seems to have.  Original sin is Eve biting the apple from the tree of knowledge, and villains are portrayed holding apples. Think about snow white, hunger games, harry potter, and there are other examples. But still, apples are viewed in opposite ways too. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, is what they say. Are we villains, or sinful for eating healthy fruit? I guess it doesn’t stimulate the pharmaceutical industry to eat apples in that case.”

Film Photography
Spring 2023 - Summer 2024

Film photography is a passion of mine. I mostly use a 1950’s era manual Zeiss Contessa, but have used other film cameras in the past. This work mostly tries to bring out colors and moods moreso than my other work in photography and videography. Most of my film photography is done in travel, which is why these sections are broken up into times and locations.
